Hi Friends, I have good news— “The Houses They Became” has been accepted for publication by The Colored Lens. In the light of this acceptance, I think I’ll talk a little about my journey with The Colored Lens. The Colored Lens was one of the first magazines I chose to submit my stories to, back in 2015 when I gathered the courage to send my stories out. To date, I’ve sent them almost 17 short stories. Many made it to their second round, where they “Hold” stories for possible publication. It was a sign that there was something in my stories they liked, something which made them hold it till their final voting round. However, all were rejected. Coming this close and still getting a rejection can dampen your spirits even more, but I did not lose heart. I like the magazine, and I wanted to get published by them. Hi Friends, Another year is coming to an end!! How fast time flies. Soon we'll be writing 2017 in our dates, instead of 2016. Life's been hectic for me lately, what with  work and night shifts in office. That said, I've had a couple of more stories accepted, one by Fantastic Stories of the Imagination and the other by Daily Science Fiction(my second acceptance here, yay). So I'll soon have three professional sales!! The year's been good for writing. I haven't exactly written much till July, but after that it's been quite eventful. I have received many rejections, and they do hurt, but hey, that's a part of writing life, right? I've made it to the final rounds with Clarkesworld(second round!!!whoa!!) and Flash Fiction Online, and I like to think I'm getting there. This year's Olympics is over, and for the Indians, this Olympics belonged to the women. P.V.Sindhu created history by winning silver at the Badminton Women's Singles. She is the only Indian women to have earned a silver. A laudable achievement indeed, that too at the age of 21. Then there's Sakshi Malik, winning a bronze in wrestling. She's 23, and from Haryana, where you have the lowest sex ration in India. Breaking stereotypes and defying all comments and snide remarks, she's gone on to achieve her dreams, and make India proud in front of the whole world. There's also Dipa Karmakar, 23, who's wowed the entire nation by her skills as a gymnast. She may not have won a medal, but her performance has been stunning. She is also only the fifth woman in the history of gymnastics, who has successfully completed the Produnova Vault. It's been many months since I stepped in here. What to do, I've been busy lately, what with the training program I was undergoing and then posting to a new place and what not. Additionally, I did not have my laptop with me and so it was double difficult. That said, I have some good news. One of my poems was published last year in Page and Spine. It's not speculative, but definitely nostalgic. Do check it out  here  when you get the time. I'm still at home, writing, enjoying jackfruit that grows in our own house, and sleeping till late morning(of course, I miss staying up late like I did in my hostel.) I'm a graduate now. :) Yes, officially an engineer, and it has been quite an amazing and satisfying college experience for me. I got a 9.18 in my last semester, my highest, and an overall point of 8.39. Now, I have my fingers crossed(in my mind) as I wait to receive my offer letter that will officially start my career. Looking back, I do feel rather grown up- having finished school and college. Looking forward, however, I still feel so young, with so many things yet to be accomplished. In the past few weeks, I've received rejections again. It does indeed take a lot of patience, being a writer, and having a skin from which rejections bounce of is a must(of course, after it soaks up the useful criticism rejection letters offer sometimes). Hi everyone, So yeah, it's been a long time since my last post. I'm back home from college, and this time it's not a semester break. College life is over. Waiting to get the date of joining from Infosys and kickstart job life now.  In the meanwhile, the monsoons have arrived, the weather is lazy, and Siliguri as always, keeps on reminding me about why I love it more than Kolkata. My writing is pacing up again. I slacked off during the initial days after homecoming, allowing myself to be pampered, but now I'm back to words and their magic. Truth is, I'm never really away from them anyway. I'm reading books or writing diaries or laying Scramble when I'm not writing. Always words, you see. And oh, yes, watching anime. That's a must as well. Some of my stories have received rejections over the past few days, but I'm taking them in my stride. You have to, really, when you submit to magazines. It's quite exciting, starting a new blog. This feels much like an online home to my words, thoughts, musings, and other stuff(hopefully). Well, for starters..let's see... I'm almost at the sunset of my college life. I live in India, in the city of Siliguri, a place located at the foothills of the Himalayas. I'm currently typing from my hostel though, situated far far away from my hometown, all the way in Haldia. So that's that. I love writing,story books, sentences that give you goosebumps, and anime. So hopefully, these things will feature regularly in my blog. And by regular , I do mean lots and lots.
